Kris began his engineering career in 2001 as an Engineering Intern at SDG.

He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering in 2002 and began working full-time for SDG. While at SDG, he obtained a Masters of Engineering in Structural Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2004. In 2013, Kris became an Associate Principal in the firm. In January 2020, Kris Bomar was promoted to Principal at SDG.

Kris has significant experience in conventional and post-tensioned concrete structures, as well as steel and masonry structures. He has worked on a wide range of projects including healthcare, educational, commercial and high-rise buildings. He has experience in high-wind and seismic region projects.

He is a member of ASCE, AISC, ACI, PTI, and the Structural Engineers Association of Tennessee.

Will has been with SDG since 2006. He was promoted to Associate Principal in the firm in 2015 and to Principal in 2025.

He has worked on a wide range of projects including educational, religious, and institutional facilities. His experience includes structural steel, reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, cold-formed steel and masonry.

Will received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, from New Mexico State University and his M.S. degree in Structural Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He is a member of ASCE, AISC, Structural Engineers Association of Tennessee and is a Middle Tennessee Committee Member.

Charles has been with SDG since 2002. In 2007, he was named an Associate Principal in the firm and in 2015 was promoted to Principal.

He has over 25 years of structural design experience, including structural steel, reinforced concrete, concrete masonry, cold- formed steel and wood- framed projects. Charles has done extensive work on Department of Defense design build projects on military bases throughout the country. He has extensive experience as well in the design of educational facilities located throughout the states of Alabama, Kentucky and Mississippi.

Charles received a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering in 1995 from the University of Memphis, and later, while working at SDG, he obtained a Masters of Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2006.

Charles is on the Board of Directors in The Masonry Society and is actively involved in developing and maintaining Masonry building codes (TMS 402/602 ACI 530) adopted by the IBC. He is also a member of ASCE and AISC.

In addition, he has earned the LEED Accredited Professional certification which recognizes competence in Sustainable Design.

Jim is a Principal and one of the founding partners at SDG.

He has 35 years of experience in the structural design of all building types — from conventional, post- tensioned, and precast concrete structures to steel structures. Jim has served as Project Manager for hundreds of projects including healthcare, educational, office, and commercial facilities.

His considerable seismic experience includes many projects ranging from those in moderate zones of seismicity to the high seismic zones of California. He holds the registration of Structural Engineer in the states of California, Utah, Oregon, Nevada, Washington, Arizona, and Illinois.

Jim graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Engineering and a Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University.

Jim is a member of the American Concrete Institute, American Institute of Steel Construction, American Society of Civil Engineers, Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, Structural Engineers Association of Northern California, Tennessee Structural Engineers Association State and Middle Tennessee Board Member, and Design Professional’s Risk Control Group (DPRCG) Practice Management and Education Subcommittee.

Jeremy has been with SDG since shortly after the firm’s founding in 1999. In 2005, he was named an Associate Principal at SDG, and in 2014 became a full partner in the firm.

He has specialized in healthcare facilities in his over 20 years in the industry with significant experience in steel, concrete, and masonry structures throughout the United States. His projects also include hospitals in areas of high seismicity.

Jeremy received his B.S. degree (summa cum laude) in Civil Engineering and Mathematics from Duke University and his M.S. degree in Structural Engineering from Stanford University. He is a registered Structural Engineer in Alaska, California, Idaho, and Illinois, and is also a licensed Professional Engineer in Tennessee. He is a member of AISC, ACI, the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California, ASCE, past Associate Member of the ASCE 7-10 Main Committee, Corresponding Member of ASCE Committee on Continuing Education, and ASCE Committee on Standard for Design of Foundations.

Tom is a Principal and one of the founding partners at SDG.

He has been in consulting structural engineering practice since 1981. His experience includes the design of office buildings, hotels, parking garages, healthcare facilities, convention centers, and educational facilities. He is experienced in the design of conventional, post-tensioned, and precast concrete structures. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and holds P.E. registration in 24 states plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico and was a member of the Structural Engineer Certification Board (SECB) May 2013 – March 2022.

Tom received his BE in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 1979, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Scholarship. In 1981, he received his MSE from the University of Texas at Austin.

Tom is a Fellow in the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and is actively involved in ACI technical committee work. He serves on ACI’s Main Building Code Committee 318, Structural Concrete Building Code; is Chairman of ACI Subcommittee 318-F, Foundations and Chairman of ACI Subcommittee 318-S, Spanish Translation. He serves as a member of Joint ACI- ASCE Committee 423, Prestressed Concrete; is an associate member and past Chairman of Joint ACI-ASCE Committee 421, Design of Reinforced Concrete Slabs; and is an associate member of Joint ACI-ASCE Committee 445, Shear and Torsion. In addition, he is currently a member of the ACI Publications Board and the ACI Marketing Committee, and the review panel for ATC 115 on high strength reinforcement.
He is also a member of the Post-Tensioning Institute. In addition to PTI and ACI, Tom is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute, American Institute of Steel Construction, Colegio De Ingenieros Y Agrimensores De Puerto Rico, National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying, National Society of Professional Engineers, Florida Engineering Society, and Society of American Military Engineers.

Jennifer was promoted to Associate Principal in the firm in January 2023. Previously, she was a Design Engineer and Project Manager at SDG.

She has been with SDG since 2007 following her graduation from Duke University. Jennifer obtained a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt in 2006. She has over 15 years of experience in the design of a variety of projects and has specialized in healthcare project design. She holds a PE license in Tennessee and is a member of AISC and ASCE.

Jared has been with SDG since 2004. He was promoted to Associate Principal with the firm in 2018.

He has over 15 years of experience in the design of a variety of structural systems for healthcare, industrial, educational, and commercial facilities.

Jared received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, from Tennessee Technological University (magna cum laude) and his M.E. degree in Civil Engineering from Vanderbilt University. He is a member of ASCE, AISC, and Structural Engineers Association of Tennessee.

Drew has been with SDG since 2012. He earned a Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio in 2011, where he also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 2008. Drew received the Senior Leadership Award in Civil Engineering from the Robe Leadership Institute and was a member of the Chi Epsilon Honor Society while at Ohio University.

Drew has over 10 years of experience in the design of a variety of structural systems for healthcare and a wide range of other project types. He holds both a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and a Structural Engineer (S.E.) license. Drew is an Associate Committee Member of the industry standard publication ASCE 7 – Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures, serving on the Main Committee and Wind Loads Subcommittee. He’s also a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and the Structural Engineers Association of Tennessee.

Drew also serves as SDG’s Engineering Technology Manager overseeing the development of internal design software and for implementing and educating our staff on the effective use of our engineering software, including REVIT.

Stanley is an Associate Principal and has been with SDG since 2002. He has almost 40 years of structural design experience with all types of projects. He served as Project Manager and Engineer for a number of large student housing projects at the University of Kentucky and for a series of one- to three-story wood-framed assisted living projects throughout the Southeast. He also has extensive experience with additions and renovations to healthcare facilities as well as new hospitals. His experience includes structural steel, reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, masonry, wood, and cold-formed steel design.

Zak began working for SDG in 2017 following his graduation from the University of Kentucky. Zak graduated magna cum laude from UK in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and earned his Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering in 2017. Zak holds both a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and a Structural Engineer (S.E.) license. He is responsible for all phases of project design and management for a wide variety of projects at SDG. Zak has significant experience in the design of healthcare facilities across the country.

Zak is a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), the Structural Engineers Association of Tennessee (TNSEA), and is an Associate Committee Member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) serving on the “Footings, Mats, and Drilled Piers” and “Anchorage to Concrete” committees.
