FAYETTE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS’ STEAM ACADEMY CHANGING THE WAY STUDENTS LEARN

SDG is proud to have worked with Ross Tarrant Architects on this innovative facility that is a partnership between progressive education specialists from the UK College of Education and Fayette County Public Schools.

Fayette County Public Schools’ STEAM Academy is completely changing the way students learn. This building, originally built in 2007 for Imani Baptist Church, was completely renovated to create a new, state-of-the-art educational environment for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. The building also houses the District’s Success Academy—a program that provides an alternative for at-risk youth who are in danger of failing to graduate. The design was designed to support the Academy’s unique, student-centered model and project-based learning by creating breakout spaces and collaborative makerspaces throughout the entire building.
