GROUND BROKEN ON MCMINN EDUCATION CENTER

GROUND BROKEN ON MCMINN EDUCATION CENTER

Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee said the $17.75 million McMinn Higher Education Center will be “a model” for higher education nationwide at the ground breaking ceremony Friday. We’re proud to provide structural engineering on the team with Goodwyn Mills Cawood.

The project will relocate current Cleveland State Community College classroom spaces, UT Extension, and Adult Education classes, and TCAT Vocational lab space and provide space for local industry workforce training to upgrade the existing workforce. Construction will consist of a new building consisting of new classrooms, computer labs, chemistry labs, biology labs and specialty classrooms such as welding, electromechanics, tool-die and EMT nursing labs.

The building is a 1- and 2-story, approximately 51,000-square foot facility. The 2-story wing will consist of 2 levels of classrooms and 2-story tall applied technology lab classrooms. Administration and other support space will be in the one-story area of the facility.
