12 Sep MARY BRIDGE UNVEILS $415M TACOMA HOSPITAL DESIGN CHANGES
We are proud to be working with ESa on the new state-of-the-art pediatric hospital facility at Mary Bridge Children’s – the only Level II Pediatric Trauma hospital in Western Washington. After more than 30 years of sharing space with MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital is getting a new home and has revealed an updated $415 million hospital campus plan.
When Mary Bridge first unveiled the design for its new standalone hospital in July 2021, it was 300,000 square feet, would cost a reported $344 million. Following lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mary Bridge has reduced the size of its inpatient medical tower to 250,000 square feet and will be adding an ambulatory building with specialty clinics, urgent care and behavioral health crisis management services. The hospital said that by reallocating space from the inpatient tower to the ambulatory building, it is “creating a pediatric-focused medical campus that not only provides better access to care for patients but also creates opportunities for future growth.”
Mary Bridge also reducing the number of staff and visitor parking spots from 1,100 to 800.
Construction of the hospital is scheduled to begin mid-2023, according to the new plan, followed by the start of construction of the ambulatory building in 2024.
