Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center

About This Project

2010

The new 285,656-square foot hospital consists of a 5-story structural steel tower with provisions for 2 floors of future vertical expansion. The 1-story ancillary area at the base of the hospital tower is constructed for a future second floor. A portion of the 1-story ancillary is designed for a future 7-story tower to match the tower currently programmed. Mechanical rooms are located at each floor. Elevator penthouses were required for the elevator overrun and the elevator machinery. Mechanical penthouses were required at the 1-story roof areas for the air-handling equipment serving the ancillary spaces. The powerhouse is located on the first level of the hospital. A linear lobby public space extends across the front of the hospital with numerous skylights in the roof structure. Canopies were provided at the main entrance, outpatient entrance, and ER entrances.
